An international internship is a great opportunity to gain specific career-related, international experience. In
order for your international internship to count towards graduation requirements, you must earn academic credit for
the internship which needs to be arranged through the Diversity & International Center.
If you are looking solely to have the experience of living and working or teaching abroad and you don't need academic
credit, there are some options that might be less expensive or appropriate for recent graduates.
Fulbright U.S. Student Program Fulbright grants provide for the
international exchange of scholars in order to foster research and advanced study, or undertake teaching
assistantships, for one year in a foreign country. Several kinds of grants available include the Teaching
Assistantship Program, mtvU Award, and the National Geographic Digital Storytelling Fellowship.
Peace Corps As the preeminent international service organization of
the United States, the Peace Corps sends Americans abroad to tackle the most pressing needs of people around
the world. Peace Corps Volunteers work at the grassroots level toward sustainable change that lives on long
after their service--at the same time becoming global citizens and serving their country.
CIEE Teach Abroad Work overseas and teach English abroad in Chile,
China, the Dominican Republic, South Korea, Spain, Thailand, or Vietnam with CIEE.
TaLK (Teach and Learn in Korea) & EPIK (English Teaching Program in Korea) Both TaLK and EPIK
provide English teaching opportunities in South Korea at both elementary and secondary levels. The program
provides in-country orientation, a monthly stipend, round-trip flight, health insurance, and accommodations
for a 6 month or 12-month contract.
HELP! Heslington Language Programs Teach English and earn
TESOL certification in Mexico. Experience Mexican culture and language in year-round programs (summer, fall,
and winter semesters) with housing, meals, and airfare provided.
JET Programme The Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme aims
to promote grassroots internationalization at the local level by inviting young overseas graduates to assist
in international exchange and foreign language education in Japan.
Teaching Assistant Program in France
The Teaching Assistant Program in France offers you the opportunity to work in France for 7 months, teaching
English to French students of all ages. Each year, nearly 1,500 American citizens and permanent residents
teach in public schools across all regions of metropolitan France and in the overseas departments of French
Guiana, Guadeloupe, Martinique, and Réunion.
American Language and Culture Assistants in Spain Managed by the Ministry of Education, Culture, and
Sport, the Language, and Culture Assistants program offers recent graduates the opportunity to teach English
in a K-12 classroom in Spain.
Teach for China Teach for China is a two-year fellowship
program providing the opportunity to teach in high-need schools in China but to also gain leadership and
