Situated in the heart of campus, the Jewett Center for the Performing Arts and the Emma Eccles Jones Conservatory house all 3 performing arts departments in their entirety: performance and production spaces, faculty offices, classrooms, teaching studios, and rehearsal rooms. Florence J. Gillmor Hall will be built on the southeast corner of the Jewett Center—a 3-story addition that will provide more of these spaces for our students.
The first level of the project will house rehearsal studios, practice rooms, a green room, lockers, a lounge, and a small cabaret stage as a hub for students who spend a great deal of their time relaxing, rehearsing, collaborating, and studying.
The second level creates a combined entrance. It features the grand lobby, a space to exhibit art for both student and faculty exhibits. It will also house the performance studio, a versatile space for dancers and other performers with retractable seating that can be used as a classroom as well as a performance space.
The third level is accessed by the grand staircase and bridge. This floor includes a choir rehearsal room, faculty offices, and a dressing room for performers. The crown jewel is the recital hall—an elegant, 100-seat performance space for student recitals, chamber music, readings, lectures, etc.
